Hello folks,
We all plan to learn how to do somethings we love and sometimes it might not be the easiest of tasks. Everyone one has different reasons behind learning something new, sometimes to build their own projects, increase their skillset to give them an advantage or even to land them a reputable position.
I'll be writing on some general "tips" and "occurrences" that might lurk around whenever we try to get on something new…
First off…
Doing your own Research: By yourself, check for online materials you want to learn from, it's required of you to do your own research, pick recent ones and most importantly review comment from people that have passed through them.
Work with Time: Create a target for yourself, while learning the course you selected, you could start by having a certain number of videos you watch in a day hence speeding up your progress also online courses helps but practicing and putting yourself to the test helps a lot better even if it comes to making a remix of the actual project that was built in the tutorial. You don't want to get stuck in watching various tutorials by doing that you are limiting your capability.
Understand what you are being taught: This is vital, you might not understand all sometimes, it might not sink in well at first but having the concept of how it works matters a lot you don't want to end up finishing a 48+ hr course content and still feel overwhelmed or confused while trying to build your own personal projects. It might even require you watching a particular video twice to have a grasp.
Never Feel Intimidated: Learning is a continuous process, the people that know more than you have obviously put in more time and effort before they could achieve such knowledge, motivating yourself or having a driving force is something that will keep you going.
and most importantly…
Don't Compare yourself with others: Please kindly change that to "Never". Comparing yourself with others is just like comparing your time and effort and time with someone else's, although comparison helps "sometimes" to give boost and motivation...but don't let it be a weight to deprive you of your personal satisfaction. No one has the skills imprinted in their brains it all took a lot of practice and sometimes which were mostly behind closed doors.
Join the Community: Joining the Community helps open you to others in your square you get to see problems challenging others and learn from it, you get to collaborate with people to improve your skill and also broaden your mindset.
- Other side tips include; Discipline, Consistency and Diligence.
Some side "occurrences" that are sometimes inevitable but we should be actively cautious about includes;
Procrastination: This's the top dog that affects anyone that is about to start out a new hobby or career...and a quick go around is to "Just Start"
Distraction: From social media disturbance to personal outcomes...it's unavoidable...but with discipline you should be able to limit it.
- Resources: From your valued time to your cash(sometimes) you'll have to put it in…imagine yourself in someone shoes who loves embedded systems and doesn't want to get micro-controllers, sensors and other pieces of hardware needed...you definitely have to give in your cash to see your projects come alive…same goes other related fields.
Finally, you need to understand that "It ain't going to be easy", take your time, engage yourself in your tech community, enjoy the process and watch it payoff...There you have it, Thanks for showing up to take a read...also feel free to reach out to me on Twitter. I really appreciate and your comments are most welcome, Thanks 💙
